Museum Art Auctions/Sales are the way to Stay, not the way to Go.
Many of you may know of the recent news that the Claremont Museum of Art is scheduled/destined to close on October 31st.
Current permanent collection reception at CMA. Future of pieces unknown:

After only 2 years in fruition, the museum has hit its terrible twos, and unless funds suddenly come in during the next week, it will be no more.

The idea of museums closing frustrates me to no end.
Museums are about about access to the arts.
They build community relationships, educate people about art, put art to the forefront of those who are new to the experiences that art can bring, letting artists voices be heard...the list goes on.
--2 MUSEUMS CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS--
November 12th, the Riverside Art Museum will be celebrating its 80th Birthday.

November 14th and November 21st respectively, MOCA is celebrating its 30th Anniversary and 30th Birthday.
Reception at MOCA's permanent collection opening '08:

--BIRTHDAY PARTY MO's--
RAM's Publicity MO is "Respect and Renovation" and a Thank You for all of the hard work over the years to make the museum what it is today.
MOCA is hopeful: "The First 30 Years".
Highlighting the importance and provenance of their internationally recognized permanent collection.
--TICKETS TO THE PARTIES--
RAM's 80th Birthday Party is $80 per person ticket price and includes a nice party of fine dining delights, wine tasting and live music,
as well as viewing the current exhibitions throughout the museums 4 galleries and 2 common areas.
MOCA GALA invitations have already gone out to some 20,000 people. The gala has the accessible tickets of $1500 - $2500 individual and couples tickets are sold out, although a new set of 100 seats at the $2500 level have just been released. Includes performance by artist Francesco Vezzoli, with additional performance by Lady Gaga and the Bolshoi Ballet + dinner.
All proceeds from the Gala will be donated to MOCA.

The MOCA November 20th Birthday event features performance/installation with My Barbarian and is Free to members.

--ONE GOOD WAY TO MAKE $ FOR THE MUSEUM--
On exhibition during the RAM 80th birthday, is a fundraiser exhibition of accessible works by local artists - prices range from $50 to $300 each. Exhibit is from November 6th* to November 14th.

Artists will receive 50% commission if their work sells in the fundraiser.
The other 50% will go toward RAM.*Admission to the public sale is free and entrance will be by numbered pass which will be distributed beginning at 4:00pm and continuing until the 6:00pm sale on Friday, November 6 in front of the Riverside Art Museum.
MOCA Fresh (in May 2009) helped raise +$600,000 for MOCA - work by heavy hitters and emerging artists alike ranging from approx. $500 - $7000.
Artists gave 100% donation, although some artists are represented by their galleries, and they may have had compensation agreements between them for the donations.
--MUSEUM EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS--
RAM's education program includes 4 affiliated artist groups (the art alliance, plein air, photography, printmakers and artery(culinary). And Youth Education.
MOCA's education department includes several youth and family programs as well as night events.
