Sunday Dec. 6th Sunday Art Opening in Pasadena
I have 2 new flight path paintings in a show in Pasadena, this Sunday, December 6th.
from 4pm to 7pm
project 210
2888 east walnut street | studio 10 | pasadena ca 91107
phone: 3 2 3 . 2 2 5 . 2 2 2 9
I have been fascinated with the sky for years -- especially after seeing so many gorgeous acidic LA sunsets from my porch when I lived there.
When I dropped off the work for the show I had a nice chat with the curator of the space, Chuck Feesago. He asked me, "Why?". I suppose the simplest thing that makes sense to me right now is that I am in a Landscape phase of my work for the last 5 years or so.
Here are some detail shots of the new work that I will be showing:
The fight paths are Maps in the sky, basically. Most of the work I am doing is Map based - Applets are word maps, the flight paths are maps for sky travel and delineation, constellation research maps out the stars, there are maps that I use literally, and other map pieces that insinuate maps.
I hope to see you at the show! There will be lots of amazing small works to see, inspire or collect and nice people to meet, too.
