Lost and Found in LA before Painting

An LA blogger, Lucy Bennett, purchased one of my little landscape paintings for her sister last month.

You know, when I started the City Silhouettes they were an ironic study in design, a play on PopArt replication without the prints, a study on color combinations in vintage fabrics, and me staring at all the amazing sunsets that were falling overhead in the West at dusk.
Somewhere in these thoughts too, there was the irony of the Readymade, the daily accessibility of the mundane things around us...and couldn't that just be a piece of art too?
Voila! A little un-mundane piece of accessible, everyday art, depicting something in the everyday, but with a twist.

And there you have it, when I made the first 6 City Silhouettes I had no idea they would become what they became.

I didn't even consider myself a painter when I started them!!
I used paint, but not entirely. Sometimes not at all.
Here is some work I was doing before I started the City Silhouettes:

"Portrait"

"Landscape"

and now I'm here:
"Land"

"Harmonic Landscape"

Well, I really enjoy that someone like Lucy and her sister are collecting art.
Just every-day gals looking for a little something to make their day less mundane.

Thanks Lucy!
