Kindred Spirit: Anthony Discenza - Strength in Street Signs
Here is another kindred spirit:
Anthony Discenza at Catherine Clark Gallery
As per the previous blog entry...I am working on a public art project.
I was a little disappointed recently that a very similar project is in town. However, a little bit more relieved to see Anthony's work - which has been in creation since around 2008.
I like that he is using original thoughts - including his lists!
As you may know, I am a writer of stream of consciousness lists.
He has other works which I don't like As much as these.... I like his words, but wish the color fields were not so much like mini Ed Ruscha.
Well, I hate to *jinx* it, but the public works that I am creating are similar but different. The concept was in fruition in December and had to change slightly in the last couple of weeks because of location stipulations.
Here is a proposal excerpt:
"ACTIONS SPEAKS" (louder than words) generates local and global exchange. The signs give food for thought and prompt involvement and engagement, integrating art action into the every-day.
As a collective public project they will bring to light a sense of place for the community, bring ideas to the fore and release them for all to share - generating creative humanitarian connections.
"ACTION SPEAKS" signs are accessible art for all ages and from all walks of life. They do more than say something - they will help people speak about their lives in new ways.
