Limited Edition Artists Books

CJ (Candace) Metzger and Miss Mindy have launched 2 very special books sets at their current show here at Gallery Revisited.
Artist Sisters: Box of Stories

The stories are intended for kids -- but they are truly ultra neato tales - really cute and adorably sweet stories and rhyme.
We currently have 2 BOX SET versions here at Gallery Revisited.

I do love hand-made and indie books...these are ultra detailed, refined and have all of the completed qualities of a beautifully designed and well thought out artists book edition but with extra bits that make them unique.

Deluxe Limited Edition Box Set:

One book illustrated and written by each artist;
"Princess LaLa" by Candace Metzger
"Teenie Weenie Tales" by Miss Mindy
Burned Wood Box
Signed, numbered and embossed 6" print
Certificate of authenticity from the publisher
Only 44 were made!
$150. each

Collectors ONE OF A KIND Box Sets Edition -- only 10 were made.

These uber sets are so so so amazing:

-- Each box is different --
Featuring an original 3" painting on panel inset into the top + beautiful fabrics
that compliment the tiny paintings, many of which are silk.
The little paintings are of the utmost detail - so small, yet each eye sparkles, each flower has dew...really really impressive!!

The fabric covers the entire custom shaped box including the insides where you will find nestled in place, one of each book by each artist.
To the left, secured by coordinated tabs, is a 10" signed and numbered print.

These boxes include;
One book illustrated and written by each artist;
"Princess LaLa" by Candace Metzger
"Teenie Weenie Tales" by Miss Mindy
An original painting by one of the artist sisters featuring complimentary characters from the books!!
Signed, numbered and embossed 10" print
Certificate of authenticity by the publisher.
$750. each

Here are the different paintings for each cover:
Flower Hat Nat by Miss Mindy -- with aqua cotton fabric

Wide Eyed Wanda by Miss Mindy - with raw navy blue silk with red-ish nubs.

Little Bee by Candace Metzger - with pretty pale olive colored smooth cotton

Astrid the CAt by Candace Metzger - with mauve texture woven cotton fabric

Princess LaLa by Candace Metzger - with dark teal silk fabric

Untitled by Miss Minday - with luscious red silk...mmmm. (she's hot!!)

Princess LaLa - with grey silk - SOLD

Dandy the Lion by Miss Mindy - with dark olive green raw silk fabric

Temperamental Tilly by Miss Mindy - with dark ochre/rust cotton fabric

Spider by Candace Metzger - with magenta linen fabric

Please email me or visit the gallery to purchase...(they are not on the website.)

These special editions were produced by Baby Tattoo Books, and I have to say that they are the most deluxe and high quality things I have seen come out of a small publishing house.

Gallery and current show on TV!!

**
Now, as artists and galleries, there is a common assumption, and perhaps reality that we do not like TV, don't have one, think tv is evil... that we read and paint/make art, discuss theory, eat cheeses and drink wine all day long. (AAAhh the '80's...)

Well, more and more I hear that many artists have favorite shows - Iconoclasts, baby animals (I LOVE baby animals), Lost, Six Feet Under, Grey's Anatomy (This is one of mine, actually. Could be from the General Hospital my grandma used to watch, but I have a thing for Doctor shows...like almost all of them, reality and fiction.)

Speaking of reality - the gallery has transended into the ultimate pop culture realm this Monday the 9th.
Channel 4 - NBC
3pm
a show called "Your LA".

I spoke about the show, the artists and why the show is timely. Later I recalled that I forgot to mention a whole ton of other stuff I could have mentioned. Oh well.
(I'm super nervous!! I hope I don't look tired and sound weird.)

They did a profile of Sumi's and included the gallery to reinforce the synergistic thing we have going on here.
They shot a ton of footage of the current show too.

Congrats to all for the TV exposure...a strange new twist to gallery PR for sure!

Yes, it's true -- the gallery IS going to be on TV.
this Monday the 9th.

Sometimes I write blogs where I put in links that I think are Ironic, folks.
Like this funny blog on the archival gummi bear update that has a link to vermine theme craft projects.

Sometimes you gotta poke fun at what you do. In time you will learn my writing style - which is a mix of serious art talk and today, all about kitsch.
Real, but kitsch.

Again,

CJ Metzger and Miss Mindy Reception Thanks and Highlights

The reception on March 24th was a Delight...lots of fun things were going on.

Fred Eric of Fred 62 provided delicious vittles. People gobbled them up -- obviously folks are really bored with the cheese and crackers dealio I usually provide. It was super nice of Fred to make hot sandwiches and everything else, way beyond any one's expectations.
I eat at Fred 62 about once a month -- a great late night place after art openings.
He also opened Tiara, which I have yet to try, but these comments are convincing me to high tail to the Fashion District real soon.
(Even just to drink the water!! You heard me. But apparently I better get ready for some serious people watching as well as spend at least 1.2 hours deciding what to wear. Regardless, the water, and oh, the pink fondue fountain I gotta see.)

Thanks to Jack of Vinyl Pulse for coming to the show, snapping pics and posting a blurb on the show!!
And to Flavorpill and LA City Beat for posting one of our shows again.

Thanks to Penny Star Jr and her beautiful vixen tree fairy friend adorned as Living Dolls.

Here are some beautiful pics for your voyeuristic enjoyment....

Do stop by -- this show ends May 5th.
