Leora Lutz Go About: Christopher Russell at the Hammer Museum

I went to a Hammer Projects Artist Talk presented by the artist himself, Christopher Russell.

Curated by Darin Klein.
Until April 13th.

These are details of a couple of pieces in the show.
Go there to see it big and in person.

LA ARTS Month

January is LA Arts Month.
That's right. Arts "Month".
Reader, I don't need to tell you that art is 24/7, 365, 'til 80, 90...'til Death.
Just don't let it part.

LA Art SHOW
artip:$20 general admission during the weekend if you can't swing the $250 gala.

artLA
Opening Night to benefit MOCA!!! Buy tix now!!
artip: $50 for after 8:30pm time-slot if you can't wing the $150 earlier tix.

Personally I have been an artLA fan, because I tend to like contemporary art. But let's not forget where we all began folks. Besides, a friend of mine called me enthusiastically from the show last year and was floored that there were $80,000 to $500,000 paintings leaning on the floor, inches away, in a flurry of commerce and art appreciation for the instant, in a noisy place...not in the quiet of the museum.
But I digress.
Besides, LA Art Show is hosting Supersonic this year. MFA students from our fair city and beyond. Now that's some new art.

Good-bye Indie 103

I don't know what I am going to do in my car.
Last time I checked there is no computer in there.
That's right, Indie is off the airwaves.

*sigh*

I hate the fact that so many radio stations come and go and that
KROQ totally sucks now...Aah - the good ol' days when I ditched school to stand on their stairs in some weird parking lot in Old Town Pasadena to get Spandau Ballet to sign a paper plate.

I don't know where that paper plate is anymore.

Needless to say, I am listening to Indie online right now while blogging.

Go About: Monte Vista Projects

The other day - well, it was a little while ago* - we went to the fundraiser for Monte Vista Projects.

You bought a ticket, got a Bingo card, played Bingo. Random chance, luck or the philosophy of numbers resulted in prizes.

A bit into it I got a Bingo. I chose the lit'lest lightest box and opened it to find it was a box of stretch gauze.
"oh, this can't be it"...i pondered out loud.
then i noticed the blue tape that said "artwork" on it.

First pick: limited edition silkscreen by Shizu Saldamando from the Vexing show at Claremont Museum.

I love silly games.
